The used wrapping paper from the Christmas presents I’ve received piled sky high in my room. Being a tree hugger, I just realized how much trees have been cut down for the production of all those fancy wrapping papers that we all buy over this festive period. (Yes, I’m guilty too.)
So instead of throwing all those wrapping paper away, I’ve decided to recycle them. Here are some of the suggestions on ways to recycle the wrapping paper.
Shred pretty coloured paper to use as colourful light but protective packaging around future gifts.
2. Like newspaper, wrapping paper is great for cleaning windows and leaving them streak-free – use it instead of paper towels or a cloth.
3. One for the kids: thin paper like wrapping paper is great for origami – use it to make Christmas-themed decorations or to give to friends. You can also cut out pictures of penguins, stars or cartoon characters to decorate dull notebooks.
Now these are definitely good ways of recycling those left over wrapper. But we could go even “greener” by purchasing wrapping paper made from recycled materials! And surprisingly, there are some really good recycled wrapping papers with great designs. Check them out here.
